Downtown Silver Spring

Silver Spring, MD

The redevelopment of Downtown Silver Spring began as a project in 1998 when approval was sought to redevelop a four block (15 acre) area of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. The project includes a mix of retail, restaurants, theatre, parking, an urban plaza and a public park that will incorporate a tribute to war veterans designed by Sculptor Toby Mendez. Working with James Urban, FASLA, Miles Barnard served as project manager and associate designer for the project from 1998 until 2002.
