Responding to an initial request for help designing a walking path at this residential mental health facility, South Fork Studio ultimately created a campus wide master plan.
Recommendations for no-mow grass areas, the use of native plant material and options for porous paving were some of the ideas presented by South Fork Studio to help the center create a more sustainable facility.
The new plan creates spaces where residents can walk, be by themselves for reflection, or interact with visitors on a shady bench, or in a 'family' area with picnic table, benches and a swing set. In addition, we created a future location for a Labyrinth, an ancient experiential and meditative walking exercise that could add significant depth to the rehabilitation and counseling experience.
